Summer Skincare Essentials

Summer is almost here, and as the seasons change, so should our skincare routines. Protecting and nourishing our skin is more important than ever during the summer. I love using products loaded with antioxidants, melanin inhibitors, hydrators, and, of course, SPF! Here’s why:

Antioxidants protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals, which are unstable molecules that can harm our cells, especially from UV exposure. They neutralize free radicals from the sun, pollution, smoke, and other environmental stressors.

Melanin inhibitors (tyrosinase inhibitors) slow down or block the production of melanin in our skin. Melanin is the pigment that gives our skin its color and serves as a natural defense mechanism against sun exposure. When our skin is exposed to UV radiation, melanocytes are stimulated to produce more melanin. However, this increased melanin production can lead to hyperpigmentation issues like dark spots, sunspots, and melasma. By inhibiting the production of melanin, these inhibitors prevent the excess pigment from causing these discoloration problems.

Hydrators are essential in the summer. Sun exposure, higher temperatures, and increased sweating can lead to dehydration in the skin. Using hydrating products will keep your skin hydrated and plump, calm redness, regulate oil production, and maintain the skin barrier.

SPF is a must, no matter the time of year. Do I really need to explain any further?

Hale & Hush Mist Me Spray: This face mist hydrates, nourishes, and energizes the skin. It’s anti-inflammatory, packed with antioxidants, boosts moisture, and protects against environmental stressors. Plus, it smells AMAZING. Use it during your routine or throughout the day as needed. It feels great after a day in the sun!

Circadia Licorice & Bearberry Brightening Mist: This mist is as potent as a serum with a slightly thicker viscosity than your traditional mist. It contains natural brightening extracts and tyrosinase inhibitors that illuminate the skin and slow down melanin production, preventing sun damage. It also adds a boost of hydration. You really can’t go wrong with any of the Circadia mists in the summer. The blueberry and white tea is another favorite.

DMK Melanotech Drops: A potent blend of natural brightening extracts and kojic acid makes this product a powerful skin brightener and melanin inhibitor. These drops are excellent for preventing hyperpigmentation and reducing existing dark spots.

DMK Beta Gel: This DMK signature formula is a true skin healer. It contains beta-glucan, which hydrates the skin and boosts the immune system, helping heal conditions like acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, and skin trauma such as cuts, wounds, burns, and more. An absolute must for summertime!

White Veil Brightener: This cream formula contains clinically proven ingredients like SepiWhite MSH, Chromabright, and ß-White to lighten skin by inhibiting tyrosinase and reducing melanin synthesis. Niacinamide, Alpha-Arbutin, and vitamin C enhance the brightening effects and provide antioxidant benefits. Everyone can benefit from adding this to their routine.

Light Day SPF: Summer in a bottle. This broad-spectrum chemical SPF not only protects against sun exposure but also has antioxidant and anti-aging properties that protect our cells and DNA from damage. It smells amazing, blends perfectly into any skin tone, and leaves the skin with a beautiful glow.

TiZo Ultra Zinc SPF: A moisturizing all-mineral SPF suitable for all skin types. With 20% Zinc Oxide, this is an excellent option for those with acne, rosacea, or other inflammatory skin conditions, as Zinc helps calm and soothe the skin.

Circadia Watermelon Lip Renewing Hydrator: My favorite lip product, and the watermelon flavor is perfect for summer. With collagen-boosting peptides and plumping Hyaluronic Filling Spheres, it enhances lip fullness and elasticity. Enriched with antioxidant-rich Cranberry Seed Oil and nourishing extracts, it leaves lips looking and feeling their best.
